I've been looking so long at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are
All I can feel
In a world where people’s attention spans have reached an all-time low, sometimes it’s best to say less and just SHOW them what you’re up to. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words and social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are doing their part to prove it.
Carrying a camera in order to seize the moment has become more of a necessity than ever. Wherever you find yourself, consider shooting interesting or important subject matter to publish on your blog or social media page. The sooner you can post it, the better. We do live in an instant gratification society, after all.
And don't think that just stock images will do the trick. A study conducted by Jakob Nielsen revealed that people IGNORE stock images, but they prefer good ol' fashioned personal photos. You can read his interview with the New York Times.
This goes hand-in-hand with keeping your website updated. Blog posts are great for keeping people interested, but pictures and videos can really spice things up. Most current cell phones have a camera and many even have a video camera function. Most iPhone, Android and BlackBerry models also give you the ability to immediately share your photos or videos via social media. If your cell phone doesn’t have these capabilities, the purchase of a new smartphone (generally quite affordable, if you’re willing to sign a contract) or an inexpensive digital camera may be in order.
