Crockpot Applesauce

Two weeks in to Project 365 – A Year of Family Cooking! Today, we have a sweet and nutritious treat for the kids. I've found this to be a great home snack or a lunch box addition.

Ingredients:

4 pounds of organic apples (seeds removed and cut in to small thin pieces)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Directions:

In a large crockpot, combine apples, sugar and cinnamon. Next, add the water and lemon juice. Place on low for 6-7 hours, turning every so often. If you need to add more water then do so, but I found that using more water usually means I'm going to have to drain some off in the end.

No need for yucky processed applesauce when you can feed your kids homemade!
