Listen here. I'm all for prosperity and big thinking. Heck, I get hired because I'm a visionary, but nothing bothers me more than the promotion of pretentiousness. Why do some of the coaches and marketing teachers out there try to guilt trip you into buying their products or services or training and blame you for not "wanting it bad enough" or say you're not willing to "pay the price?" Bleck.

If you're just starting your business, or if you're going through a transition, it's likely that you're going to need to use all of those brilliant intelligent brain cells you've got and get super creative to market your business. You need some cheap but high-impact marketing ideas. And would you have guessed that MOST hugely successful entrepreneurs started out this way too?

	Oprah.
Richard Branson.
John Paul DeJoria
Bill Gates.

We could go on all today because that's how people get started.

	Trust me.

So, embrace the cheap ladies. No need to throw about loads of money on gadgets and expensive programs.
Here are 10 Cheap Marketing Ideas for Mompreneurs:

	1. Target Your Audience in 5 Minutes or Less
Here's where most people start off getting everything wrong – they target the WRONG group. And this is probably one of the most expensive and surefire ways to waste money on your business. You can't go after the entire world in the beginning. You just absolutely MUST narrow it down.

Who do you want to work with?

Who is your product or service PERFECT for?

What do they look like?

What kinds of things do they like to do? What do they dislike?

Where do they hang out?

If you take 5 minutes to scribble down these answers, you're going to save yourself a bundle.

2. Forums and Blog Comments
You need to be careful here because this strategy has a tendency to get pretty spammy, but what I can tell you is that this also can be a powerful way to get back links to your website, to promote yourself casually and to develop relationships with others. Most importantly, it helps you begin to listen to your target audience.

3. Postcard Marketing
Postcards are a ridiculously cheap and effective way to market to your audience. In fact, I send postcards (or some sort of direct mail) to my key prospects each and every month. People have been bombarded with technology and stay in tune to the trends. People are starting to rebel and want to become unplugged. Postcards are a great way to get in front of your customers and hopefully brighten their days.

4. Social Media
Social media marketing can either be pointless or brilliant. If you missed my previous blog post on "When Social Media Become Pointless" then be sure and read it. It's probably a good idea to be on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. But, it could be a great idea to also get super active on Pinterest, Google+ and Storify.

The tricks to making social media work are 1) planning 2) strategy 3) consistency.
Planning + Strategy + Consistency = success.

5. Blogging
Blogging is a great way to get attention from Google and get some SEO love. Why? Because you've always got up-to-date content, which means Google is giving preference to your site because you're keeping it updated.
What's the magic to blogging? It all depends on how aggressive you want and need to be. Sometimes I publish 3-4 blogs in a SINGLE DAY, but I can tell you that I advise most of my clients NOT to blog that often. It all depends on your strategy.

The point is – you should add a blog feature to your current site if you don't already have one and try to commit to one blog post a week at a minimum.

6. Video
Experts are estimating that video will be most powerful form of advertising that develops over the next five years. And wouldn't you know – my Fortune 500 clients have started to implement some interesting strategies using video already. Don't worry about everything being perfect. Stick to topics you know about and make a short 2-3 minute video. I would try not to go over 10 minutes and only tell you to produce a longer video if you're training on a certain topic. Think short and sweet baby!

7. Email Marketing
Did you know that email marketing influences 87% of female buyers. It's the single most influential online marketing medium we have right now. So don't underestimate email marketing. I go pretty in depth on email marketing in my free video series – "Kick Up Your Biz On A Budget." If you haven't already signed up, you can for free here.

8. Speaking
I try and speak at least one time per month either on a webinar, teleclass or in person. It's a simple strategy that's easy to implement. First off, in almost all cases, it's free. I have never had to PAY someone to speak. Occasionally you may incur travel costs, but it's totally worth it if it's a good audience.

The trick to public speaking is ALL in the follow up. Target your audience. Ask for their emails. Sell them your products and services. Be sure and give lots of good content and always ask your audience what you could have done more of and differently to be better. Don't be shy. You'd be surprised how it won't hurt you to ask about what you can do better the next time. Be brave.

9. Old Fashioned Phone Calls
Don't underestimate the power of picking up the phone and connecting with your prospects and customers. Just because we have the ability to email all day long doesn't mean we're too busy to answer the phone. In fact, you may be pleasantly surprised at how many people welcome the idea. Check in and be pleasantly persistent. Ask your clients or prospects if there is anything you can do for them. Don't be shy. Remember – in today's world, most people are AVOIDING picking up the phone so this is an opportunity for you to really stand out.

	10. Testimonial Marketing
Nothing sells you faster and better than letting other people sing your praises. If others are talking about you and what you've done for them then they are making a statement – a proclamation – about you and your ability. Use that baby! Plaster it all over your website. It makes selling your services and products so much easier. Truthfully, testimonial marketing is the path of least resistance. Get creative and think of new and different ways you can showcase your results to your current and potential customers.

Salivating and want more? I thought so! Be sure and sign up for my free video course "Kick Up Your Biz On A Budget" where I spend hours giving in-depth training on cheap marketing ideas for your business and additional training resources. Click here to sign up for free.

Ingredients:

1-2 large sweet potatoes
1/2 tablespoon of salt
1/2 tablespoon of pepper
1/2 tablespoon of seasoned salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Peel potatoes and cut into small chunks (about a 1/2 inch)
3. Coat the bottom of a baking sheet with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil or grape seed oil
4. Toss the potatoes in the oil and sprinkle with spices. Make sure all of the potatoes have an equal and light coat of oil and spices.
5. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Take out potatoes and turn. Cook for another 10 minutes watching closely to make sure they don't burn. They should be roasted, but not burnt.

The best way to tell if you're sweet potatoes are done is to check them with a fork. If you can get your fork all the way through with little effort they are ready to eat!
