If you’re looking to create your own blog or start an online business, I’ve put together a list of my top resources. These are my personal recommendations on what I know works, what I’m currently using now and they are all super easy to use.
3 Things To Think About Before You Start Your Own Blog (That People Want To Read)
If you want to create your own blog online, there’s a few things you need to know.
- What makes you different or how you can bring something new and fresh to the market?
Think about what new topic, subject or story you can bring to the market. It’s a pretty crowded market out there and the days of just blogging every detail in your life have shifted to focused information that could make a difference in someone’s life (your reader) with occasional blogs or personal detail sprinkled in throughout the blog. Use your story (and your life’s experience) as a way to share what worked for you, what didn’t and how it can help someone else.
- Can you follow through–and long enough to break through?
Are you committed to post on a regular basis? This doesn’t mean every day or even every week. But are you at least committed to post twice a month? Are you willing to continue to work at it, even if nobody’s reading in the beginning, just to get it rolling? Can you handle it if you don’t get 50 likes and 27 comments on your first post? If you can’t commit to these, you may want to re-think blogging.
Several years ago, the most popular blogs that were making it online were about 2-4 years old. The authors did the hard work. They blogged and blogged and blogged. Today, we’re seeing it take anywhere from 3-5 years to really make your mark and create the fame and tribe most bloggers are seeking. I know some very successful people online who just passed the 10 year mark and got big–finally.
Part of what makes you successful online is naturally occurring from continuing to publish new, fresh content on Google. Google, in turn, rewards you for all of that content via keywords, links and articles you’re publishing. It just takes time. And part of what causes traction is your ability to be consistent…even when you feel like it’s hard or no one is reading.
- Are you willing to begin thinking about how you’re going to monetize it?
You want to offer great value for the marketplace, but you also want to make money. This isn’t a hobby. Breadwinner Mommies (and frankly all moms) don’t have time for that. Our hobbies will most likely include cooking, yoga, dancing, swimming, spending time with kids–something that adds to our life. Blogging is a long-term income strategy that if done correctly, can also help you build a lucrative side-hustle with passive income potential or the ability to support your current existing business.
There are many ways to monetize your new blog like:
- A storefront
- Affiliate or referral links
- Tangible goods
- Online Training
A couple of other notes:
Just because you write something amazing, doesn’t mean people will necessarily read it. You must learn to market and promote your blog site and individual blogs. In other words, you’ve got to learn how to market the shit out of what you do. If blogging is your “way out” of another business or job, just blogging alone will be a slow way to “get out.” But if you can be consistent, put in the extra hours and learn to both market and monetize it (strategies I’ll be teaching you along the way), then it can be extremely lucrative. I have clients earning as much as $40,000 monthly and higher. They’ve built massive tribes in under two years. They are experts in tribe building and courtship.
Add those two to your “I must become an expert in” bucket lists.
If, after reading the above three truths about what it really takes to be a successful blogger and you are willing to put in the hard work then you’ve got my back. I’ve got the full DIY, anybody ought to be able to do WordPress Blog setup instructions HERE
